Community Connection has long been an advocate for and supporter of the non-profit organizations in our community. Services have included providing support for developing programs as well as being conscious of ongoing challenges facing agencies. In recent years, requests for support have increased exponentially and, in response, Community Connection has united a range of experts to participate in its Non-Profit Development Alliance Advisory Board. This board is dedicated to developing a systematic approach to building capacity of community organizations and is developing a strategic plan of action for the Non-Profit Development Alliance. Based on the following considerations, we are expanding our role as a provider of support and technical assistance to new and existing non-profit programs by offering additional resources for effective capacity building:  

Rather than developing new programs, it may be more efficient to build the capacity of existing agencies to expand their services.

Retaining skilled leadership (board and staff) is key to the long term success of organizations though little support for this population is formally available.

The Athens community is rich in the human and academic resources that support capacity building.

 The Non-Profit Development Alliance is developing three primary areas of support for area agencies.
